2013 The Year In Review

Pet Photography

Last Year was anything BUT boring.  The year started off with a bang as I headed to Florida to photography Tanya & Frank’s wedding and then it just kept going with stops in Mexico and again in the U.S.!  We ended the year with back to back weddings the last week of December.

We photographed 22 weddings last year, 3 of which were destination weddings.  Engagement sessions were awesome and we photographed 25 of them.  Newborns weren’t as rampant this year (come on 2012 alumni, get on that!) and we photographed 6 newborn sessions, coupled with 7 maternity sessions.  We also did tons of Family sessions, headshots, pet photography.  The year kept us busy!   I am thinking 22 weddings is a manageable number, 24 maximum, with a busy family I want to make sure my family and clients are taken care of.

But don’t feel sorry for us, we still had time for hockey and baseball, lots of it.  Our home is a hockey/baseball home, 3 people in the house play both sports and one plays hockey all year round at a high level.  So when we weren’t working on weddings and the like, you could probably find us at the rink or baseball diamond.  My time as a coach for my son’s baseball team came to an end this year with some bittersweet feelings.  Bittersweet because I’ll miss all of the rugrats that I coached, but it was time for it to end.  I couldn’t keep up with the pace, and probably would have tried and fell short.  So something had to give and for now coaching it was.  I personally only played 1, yes you read that right, 1 game of baseball this year due to an injury.  But am hopeful that 2014 proves to be a better year for playing baseball.

Kids are doing great in school.  I can’t believe my youngest is graduating grade 8 this year and that my oldest is now able to get some form of driver’s permit.  Back in my day it was called a 365, not sure what it’s called these days.  Stay off the roads folks, my son is coming.

I am hoping to revamp my website a little (happens every year, I get the itch).   Possibly take up jogging if my knees will allow it, and maybe hold a beginner’s photography course as I’ve had quite a few clients ask me about this.

Here’s to a wonderful 2014.  May all of your short term goals come to fruition, and those that don’t, may they lead you down a new and even better path.

God Bless you
