My Friend Tara + The Fam | Orono Family Photography

When your friend asks you to photograph their family there is always some added pressure.  I’ve known Tara now for hmmm…about 1/4 of my life.  (Not that long, considering I’m still in my 20s. AHEM)  We met while playing slo-pitch and we played on the same team forever.  But alas, all good things must come to an end and with time comes changes (read: falling in love), different interests (read: boating/fishing on the weekends with said love), new babies (read: adoption of cute doggie).  So, alas ball took a backseat and we lost a great ball player. 🙁 BUT we didn’t lose a great friend.  Tara is one of those people who is smart, beautiful and a great person.  If we needed her, she would have our backs in a second.  We all know that…and there is always a spot on the ball team for her (hint…hint….hint…)when she decides to come out of retirement.

We traveled to The Orono Crown Lands.  Oddly enough it’s a spot I’d never been to before, but managed to find myself at for two shoot in a matter of 7 days.  Funny how things happen like that!  What’s even odder is that the couple I ended up shooting there a week later, saw us, and wondered aloud if it was “Elaine from Elaine Eve Photography”.  So random! But back to the pics.

Tara, you have a wonderful family (I’m sure I don’t need to tell you that), but I hope it’s nice to hear anyway.  Now, on to the photos!

Meet the matriarch and patriarch of this wonderful family – mom and dad.

These next few “leaf”  shots, ALWAYS make me smile.  I love the look on mom and dad’s face.  Just utter enjoyment.  Says so much to me…

I think someone may have needed a little nap after the wrestling, and I don’t mean the kids!

Ashley & Sean | Fairy Lake Photography

When Ashley told me that her photographer bailed on them last minute I jumped at the chance to photograph hers and Sean’s family.  They have two beautiful “babies”, a boy and a girl, who are wild and crazy, but oh so sweet!  They may drool a little and shed, but they put a smile on Ashley and Sean’s faces.  Heck, they put a smile on my face too.  And check out their names: Famous and Maggie.  LOVE IT!  Famous, well, he’s famous don’t you know?!? He’s energetic and fun loving and Maggie, well she’s a little quirky and fun loving too! They are the apple of their owners eye and hubby, Ashley’s sis and I had a lot of fun trying to coral them into the same spot for photos.  But dogs (yes dogs in case you haven’t figured it out yet), are like toddlers.  I always tell people, when I photograph your dog (or toddler), just let them be. Let them do their own thing because quite frankly that’s when they shine!

Meet Famous & Maggie:

I bet you can tell by their faces that they are harbouring a teeny, tiny small bit of mischief in them!

Meet their proud owners…they too probably have a little mischief in them! 🙂 I will be photographing their wedding next year and am so looking forward to it!

This next one is one of my faves from Ashley and Sean’s session, just the freedom in the dogs faces but yet not wandering too far from their family…

Ashley and Sean, one photographer’s loss is another’s gain, and I feel so lucky and fortunate to have been able to photograph your family session! Thank you!!

Blayne & Debralee (That one is for Mom!) | Oshawa Wedding Photography

Sooooo…my friend is hitched and I couldn’t be happier for her.  Now I can say my “friends” are hitched to each other cause now with Debralee comes Blayne and quite frankly…I like Blayne better! LOL!! Yes I can say that because I know DL knows me well enough to know I’m only semi-joking! Who wouldn’t like Blayne better?!?! Here’s a quick example of why Blayne rocks.  We are down at Slopitch provincials in Hamilton and Blayne is heading out to the snack bar.  She asks me “Elaine, do you want anything from the snack bar?”, to which I reply, “No, it’s ok, my wallet is in the car.”  She says “No problem, I got this, what do you want?”  So I say “just a gatorade.”  She turns to DL and says “give me money, I have to buy Elaine a gatorade!”.  Now that’s my kind of girl!!! (True story by the way…loved the look on DL’s face!)

But seriously, these two couldn’t be better matched and I can see it so clearly.  Obviously so can they, hence why they chose to get hitched.  But I mean it in a sincere way, they complement each other so well.  They’re different in good ways, but alike in good ways too.  You spend 5 minutes with them and you know they were meant to be together forever.  I do believe in fate, and I do believe in destiny.  I believe Blayne and Debralee were destined to meet and fall in love.

Now on this day it was C-O-L-D!!! So it was kind of funny when someone remarked “Now I really wish I had worn the suit!!”

Speaking of suits, I couldn’t believe when the doors opened at the chapel and in walked Debralee wearing…well, I won’t tell you what she was wearing, you’ll just have to scroll down and look for yourself.  Their reception was extremely well decorated, with so much thought put into it.  I am so glad to have been a part of it!

Unfortunately I was not allowed to take photos during the ceremony, but I did manage to take a few shots here and there 🙂  (and yes, imagine everyone’s surprise and the gasp when Debralee walked in wearing this jacket! Wait til you see the back!)
