Just Cause | Downtown Toronto Photography Session

Downtown Toronto Photography

Downtown Toronto Street Photography

Just cause we could, we went wandering around downtown Toronto looking for great photography locales.  Downtown Toronto is a photography dream.  Every nook and cranny, every spray painted wall, every old building, every different coloured building exudes charm.  If you’re lucky the light hits right at the perfect time and at the perfect location.  If you’re like us though, it will be drab and rainy and you’ll wonder if you’ll be able to shoot without getting soaking wet!  Luckily the clouds do part, even in Downtown Toronto,  which allowed us some happy photography moments.

Brady isn’t always up for photographs but when he is I run with it!

Pickering Parking Lot Portraits

Pickering Parking Lot Portraits Durham Region Portrait Photography In a Pickering Parking Lot doing Portraits for Farrah

Yup, that’s right, off we went to find a random parking lot in Pickering to do Portraits.  There has been a lot of talk and challenges lately about going out and finding the least expected of places to shoot and find nice light, nice “backdrop”.  So we decided to go and out meet the challenge.  Drove around Pickering searching for a random, good quality, non-busy parking lot for these portraits.  Finally found one near a Pickering High School, where the school is set back, and the parking lot is surrounded by trees.  An excellent place for playing with gear and rhyming off a few quick photographs.  The first few portraits were taken using only natural light, the last one is with one Nikon SB910 Flash and for the life of me I can’t remember if the magmod grid was on the flash or not.  I want to say no, just because of the spread of light.  All photos shot with either the Nikon 85mm 1.4 or Nikon 58mm 1.4.  Pickering Parking Lot Portraits

Hope you enjoy and by the way this is one of my beautiful nieces.  She wants to break into film one day, she’s a complete natural!  She’s a beautiful soul inside and out.  My brother’s pride and joy.  Her mother’s BFF.  She’s into acting, sipping Starbucks (of course we went to a Starbucks for some photos – more on that in a different post!)  For now, here is Farrah.

Clay & Leanne | A Sunderland Ontario Wedding

Sunderland Ontario Wedding

A Sunderland Wedding

When Clay and Leanne asked me to come up to Sunderland Ontario and be their wedding photographer, I had one stipulation. I would shoot it as long as when they were done posing for me and my camera, I could party like a rockstar.  They came back with their own stipulations.  That a) I had to absolutely stay and enjoy and b) no ABBA requests! (Ya right! What’s a party without some ABBA??) I agreed with fingers crossed behind my back of course! Sunderland Ontario Wedding

I’ve known Clay and his family for the better part of 10 years now.  Clay doesn’t know it but I’m his pseudo-adopted, moderately older, sister.  So, since the wedding,  Leanne, I guess that makes me your pseudo-adopted, moderately older sis-in-law! Welcome to the family!  These two have great families, great friends and know how to party! I almost wish I had camera in hand to shoot some of the dance floor festivities!  I think most of Sunderland was in full swing that night! Leanne looked stunning in her wedding dress, Clay – not too shabby either, the colours of the bridesmaid dresses and groomsmen attire was absolutely stunning! We had a little bit of rain but that didn’t damper anyone’s spirits.   Encountered a minor hiccup when Leanne realized the back of her dress was dirty and the ceremony hadn’t started yet, a common thing I see when couples opt for a first look.   What could have been a minor, perceived disaster,  quickly turned into an “oh well” moment when Leanne realized dang it, she’s getting married in Sunderland, in a field! So just go with it, they told her, and she did!

Having baseball in common the groomsmen all received really stellar gifts for being a part of the wedding from Clay and Leanne – Personalized engraved baseball bats, what a nice touch! Thought for sure someone would take one in the chin by wedding nights end, but the boys kept the swinging bats to a minimum and focused on the task at hand – helping to make sure Clay and Leanne’s wedding day was happy and memorable!

From the cupcake tree, to the most adorable flower girl ever (yes, a little bias here, probably because she’s my friends baby girl  Can you blame me? ) and of course the cutest ring bearers, to the theme fitting keeping it “green” table gifts (Squeak – you may find some wanted/unwanted plants growing in odd spots around the outside of the house!), to arguably the best best man speech EVER (and I’ve heard alot of them), to the DJ that just wouldn’t quit (seriously, best DJ EVER!) I think everyone can say it was a beautiful, happy, fun-filled wedding day!

Clay and Leanne, all the best and much happiness.  Congratulations and thank you for letting me be a part of it!
