Hailey Day 2 Toronto Lighting Essentials

As promised, I did not forget about posting the pics of Hailey from the workshop.  But as it goes, one day leads to another, processing pictures, placing orders and before you know it a few days have passed (errr…weeks?).  Wow time goes by quickly!

Hailey, who is a Toronto Argonauts Cheerleader, was somewhat “new” to the world of modeling (but in a sense, they do it every day…but differently).  She really was a natural, and really a heart of gold.   We worked her for hours on this day, and she never complained once, never asked for a break, never stopped smiling (unless asked to).

Told you she is gorgeous!!

The above photos were taken in a stairwell, with a great natural light window and one strobe to the right of Hailey…Now we move to the red ladder just hanging out of the ceiling…you know, cause red ladders just naturally hang out of the ceiling! (Did I mention what a great studio we got to work out of! Tons of locations to shoot, always something different!)

And as they say in the ‘Big Leagues’ : “That’s a Wrap!”  Coming up next, change it up a little, Adam!

WPPI – Wedding Portrait Photographers International Tradeshow

I’ve been doing alot of back and forth in my head…to go or not to go (ok, well maybe “not to go” isn’t the right wording, more along the lines of “can I swing it with everything that’s going on??”  WPPI – The Wedding Portrait Photographers International Tradeshow, held in Las Vegas at the MGM,  for a whole week from March 4 – 11.  This event is held every year for, you guessed it, wedding photographers!  Considering this will be my first full year in business, I feel it necessary to go to meet the vendors I am currently working with, select new vendors and new products,  “schmooze” with other photographers, find out what’s going on in the industry, what’s hip, what’s out and just show up and be a sponge!   This is something I’ve been dreaming about doing for a year now, and feel if I really want to take my career as a photographer to the next level, I have to keep moving forward, and attending this tradeshow is one of the steps needed to accomplish this.

Lawrence at Tofurious is holding a contest for free passes to the event (a $400 value), something that is making it increasingly harder for me to come up with a reason I can’t attend.  I mean come on,  time in vegas (for a poker playing fiend like myself!), hanging out with people with the same passion as myself (I may even meet the incredible [b]ecker and maybe pick his brain for a millisecond!), peruse what different vendors have to offer (maybe come home with a new product or two to offer to my clients!), and learn…learn…learn…!   I am leaving it up to fate, if I win this pass, there will be no excuse for me not to go…so here’s to fate, and everything that comes with it!! Wish me luck!

Coming up tomorrow…Hailey!

Aleks (Toronto Lighting Essentials Workshop)

Well,  I admit it’s been a loooooooooooooooong time coming.  Too long in fact.  I guess better late then never right?  I attended this workshop back in November, and am finally getting around to posting the pics here on my blog.  The Toronto Lighting Essentials Workshop was hosted by Don Gianatti a professional fashion photographer from Phoenix.   We spent the weekend shooting, chatting, discussing business ideas, shooting some more, eating, and just having a great time.  It was fun to meet other photographers at different stages in their photography business, it was also very intense and very rewarding.  We also got to meet some terrific models, who not only were drop dead gorgeous, but great personalities too! Sometimes life just isn’t fair…sigh…
Aleks is just one of the models we got to photograph that day.  We were split into groups, and got to select which model/s we wanted to photograph for a particular lighting situation.  We created the situation, and the models basically did the rest! (Ok, well maybe we snapped a shutter…or two.)   So, without further ado, here’s Aleks! (Stay tuned for Hailey…or Christie…or Heather tomorrow!! You never know who you’re gonna meet here!)

More to come tomorrow! Stay Tuned…
